Bard Wall Mount Air Conditioner Installation

An air conditioning unit is a necessity for homes in areas where temperatures rise to the triple digits in the summer months and in many other places where humidity and heat conspire to make you feel miserable. The Bard company produces many different types of air conditioners, including a line of wall-mounted units. You install the Bard Wall Mount unit on the outside of the home. You will need a power drill to make the holes for the mounting brackets, and caulk to secure it to the wall.

Instructions

Ensure that the wall on which you are placing the unit is not damaged or worn and can support the air conditioner. Place the wall unit over the outside wall where it will be installed. These openings will need to be precut in the wall before you begin your installation

Place the bottom support bracket at the bottom of the air conditioner. Mark the location of the holes in the support bracket with the pencil.

Mark the location of the holes for the support flanges on the sides of the air conditioner with the pencil. Place the air conditioner aside for the time being.

Use the power drill to make holes in the mounting surface that are 5/16 inches in diameter and go through the mounting surface completely to house the bolts for the bottom support bracket and side flanges. Make a hole in each location that you marked.

Place the bottom support bracket that will hold the air conditioner in place over the holes you have drilled. Insert the provided bolts through the holes and tighten the nuts on the opposite side of the wall to hold the bracket in place.

Connect the top rain flashing piece to the top of the air conditioner by hooking the tabs under the top bend on the air conditioner. Place the air conditioner back on the wall and set it on the bottom on the bottom support bracket. Use the caulk and caulk gun to secure the flashing to the wall.

Insert the provided bolts through the holes on the support flanges on the sides of the air conditioner. On the other side of the wall, where the bolts come through, attach the provided nuts and tighten them down to keep the bolts in place. Make sure all of the bolts and nuts are secured and that the wall is not buckling or bending with the added weight of the air conditioner.
